Sports collectibles and gaming platform BuyStars has raised $5 million in a pre-Series A funding round led by gaming and media interactive fund Lumikai. The round also saw participation from Chiratae and Leo Capital.
The startup plans to use the raised capital for growth and to launch new games on its platform. So far, It has raised $9 million in its funding rounds.
Founded in 2021 by ex-Junglee Games executive Aman Sathija and former Flipkart executive Sriram Krishnamoorthy, BuyStars offers fantasy games, player trading, and trump cards, among other real-money games.
BuyStars claims to have onboarded over 1.5 million registered users and a monthly GMV of over $1 million.
Lumikai is India's first gaming and media interactive fund. The venture firm has made notable investments in leading gaming and media companies such as Loco, Bombay Play, Singularity, and CloudFeather Games.
