To further its presence in the country, Jio launched JioSpaceFiber, complementing its existing broadband services, JioFiber and JioAirFiber to ensure that consumers and businesses, irrespective of their location, can access reliable, low-latency, high-speed internet and entertainment services.

According to the company's statement, The satellite network also offers additional capacity for mobile backhaul to amplify the reach and availability of Jio's True5G services, even in the most remote corners of the country.

Partnering with SES

Jio has entered into a strategic partnership with SES to harness the latest medium earth orbit (MEO) satellite technology. The company said the partnership will enable access to SES’s O3b and the new O3b mPOWER satellites.

The partnership is also aimed at ensuring scalable, affordable broadband across India with unmatched reliability and service flexibility.

At present, JioSpaceFiber is available in four of India's most remote locations, including Gir in Gujarat, Korba in Chattisgarh, Nabrangpur in Odissa, and ONGC-Jorhat in Assam.

What does Mukesh Ambani say about JioSpaceFiber?

“Jio has enabled millions of homes and businesses in India to experience broadband internet for the first time. With JioSpaceFiber, we expand our reach to cover the millions yet to be connected,” said Akash Ambani, Chairman Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited.

He further said that JioSpaceFiber will allow users to participate in the new digital society with gigabit access to online government, education, health, and entertainment services.

“Together with Jio, we are honoured to support the Government of India's Digital India initiative with a unique solution that aims at delivering multiple gigabits per second of throughput to any location in India,” said John-Paul Hemingway, Chief Strategy Officer at SES.

“Our first fiber-like services from space are already deployed today in parts of India, and we cannot wait to see how this will lead to digital transformation even in the most rural parts of the country.”
