IIT Kanpur startup Simactricals develops wireless charging system for EVs

Simactricals, a startup incubated at the Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), IIT Kanpur, has unveiled a state-of-the-art wireless charging system aimed at revolutionizing the electric vehicle (EV) industry.

Rapid development and early success

Founded by Mihir Mishra and Balaji Sriram in October 2020, Simactricals is a provider of wireless charging solutions for electric vehicles headquartered in Kanpur, India.

The startup specializes in developing cutting-edge technology to streamline the charging process for a wide range of EVs, including drones, rovers, and traditional automobiles.It aims to revolutionize the EV charging infrastructure and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles worldwide.

The startup has developed its first prototype in just 45 days, starting with a wireless charging solution for DRDO drones. The technology allowed drones to land on specific pads and recharge without any physical connections. 

A versatile wireless charging solution

Simactricals' flagship product is a versatile wireless charging system designed to serve a broad spectrum of electric vehicles, from 2-wheelers, 3-wheelers, and 4-wheelers to warehouse bots, rovers, and drones.

This system eliminates the need for battery swapping or dealing with various connectors, simplifying the EV charging process and addressing a significant inconvenience for EV users across India.

Collaboration and funding milestones

Simactricals has raised Rs 75 lakh through the SanchiConnect pre-seed cohort program and received an additional Rs 44 lakh in government grants.

Currently, The startup is collaborating with leading 2-wheeler and 3-wheeler manufacturers on five Proof of Concepts (POCs) to demonstrate the effectiveness of its wireless charging infrastructure.
