In a disturbing incident, a 45-year-old HDFC Bank employee named Sadaf Fatima died instantly after falling from her chair inside the bank premises in Lucknow, according to media reports.
As her colleagues told Dainik Bhaskar, Fatima, who held the position of Additional Deputy Vice President at HDFC Bank's Vibhuti Khand branch in Gomti Nagar, was reportedly under significant work pressure.
"Additional Deputy VP of HDFC Bank in Vibhutikhand, Sadaf Fatima (45), dies under suspicious circumstances while working. The panchnama (record of observation) of her body has been filled, and it has been sent for postmortem. The cause of death will be clear after the postmortem," Vibhutikhand Assistant Commissioner of Police Radharaman Singh told ANI.
This comes after a 26-year-old employee of UK-based consulting firm Ernst & Young (EY) in Pune tragically passed away just four months after joining the company.
Anna Sebastian Perayil, who started working at EY in March 2024, died on July 20. She was employed at S R Batliboi, a member firm of EY Global.
In a letter to EY India Chairman Rajiv Memani, her mother, Anita Augustine, blamed her daughter's death on an "overwhelming workload" and excessive stress.
