A 26-year-old man, Mohammad Nadeem, set fire to an Ola Electric showroom in Kalaburagi, North Karnataka, on September 10, following frustrations over unresolved issues with his electric scooter.
According to media reports, the scooter was just two weeks old and had recurring problems that the showroom staff failed to address, despite Nadeem’s repeated visits.
Following a heated argument with the staff, Nadeem, who is a mechanic by profession, bought petrol and set the showroom on fire, which later resulted in his arrest.
"The (servicing) response was not good, he went multiple times. Yesterday (Tuesday), when he went, he carried petrol and set fire to six bikes," said the Kalaburagi police commissioner.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but six scooters were destroyed in the fire, causing an estimated Rs 850,000 in damages. Ola Electric has yet to comment on the incident.
