Facebook India Favouring BJP Hate Speech, says Rahul Gandhi

According to the reports, Facebook India did not remove the anti-minority controversial post by BJP Politician T Raja Singh. The parliamentary committee on information technology has decided to look into the allegations that Facebook India did not remove the hateful comments posted by T Raja Singh, the BJP politician.

Furthermore, Facebook India's head of public Ankhi Das has warned the staff members against removing such content from their platform, the report said.

Former Indian National Congress President, Rahul Gandhi said Facebook India is favoring BJP spreading fake news and hatred comments on their platform.

The standing committee for the investigation against Facebook was led by Kerala member of parliament and member of the Indian National Congress, Shashi Tharoor.

Moreover, The report was first published by the foreign publication The Wall Street Journal on August 14, noting that the BJP politician T Raja Singh, from Telangana representing the Goshamahal constituency in Hyderabad, had posted on Facebook called Rohingya immigrants from Myanmar Muslim traitors and threatened to destroy mosques. On August 16 Facebook took down the post, which was made in 2018.

The report specifically names Facebook India's head of public Ankhi Das. Ankhi Das has allegedly prevented takedown of the post that was published by the BJP politicians, which was against Facebook policy. Even this situation has conflicted with the organization’s global guidelines on hate speech.

Moreover, According to the Facebook India former employees, Das warned the staff members for removing the post that is being published by the ruling party BJP. It could affect the upcoming Facebook business projects in India.

Facebook India spokesperson said, "We prohibit hate speech and content that incites violence and we enforce these policies globally without regard to anyone’s political position or party affiliation. While we know there is more to do, we’re making progress on enforcement and conduct regular audits of our process to ensure fairness and accuracy.”
