Edtech Startup BYJU's Acquires Virtual Simulation Startup LabInApp

• Indian unicorn edtech startup BYJU's acquires virtual simulation startup LabInApp.
• LabInApp provides online classes in 3D animation, computer graphics, and uses technology to cover all NCERT topics.
• The acquisition was in undisclosed amount.

Bangalore based edtech company BYJU's on Thursday acquires Hubli based virtual simulation startup LabInApp in an undisclosed amount.

BYJU's will use the platform to increase the capabilities and offers for its K-12 students.

Hubli based LabInApp is a platform that uses 3D animation, computer graphics, and other technology to simulate the science experiments from the NCERT laboratory manual.

LabInApp Technology Pvt. Ltd. was founded in 2014 by Pavan Shinde. During his engineering days, he was working on creating computer graphics and 3D visuals which later on he implemented on his startup.

"Our partnership with LabInApp is our endeavor to improve the practical experience of students and enable them to perform better. This will further strengthen their learning experience," said, Neerav Khambati, CEO of Tata Classedge.

According to the Crunchbase, The startup has picked up more than $100K funding from Unit Ventures, Madan Padaki, Subhash Reddy, and Iftekhar Nihal. BYJU's acquisition led LabInApp early investor Unit Ventures full exit.

Earlier in August 2020, BYJU's acquired edtech startup WhiteHat Jr. (which provides online coding classes) for $300 million to increase its reach in the coding segment across the country.

Currently, LabinApp is having more than 550 visual simulations for subjects like Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Maths. The platform supports multi-devices like Android, iOS, Mac, VR, Windows, Web, and Smartboard.

"To scale up LabInApp products and potential, there was no better educational platform than BYJU'S, which has a huge number of K-12 students actively using their services," said, CEO Pavan Shinde.
